One Piece Chapter 1181 “God and Demon” – Basic Info

By the way, the latest manga volume “ONE PIECE Vol. 114” was released by Shueisha on March 4, 2026 (208 pages, 572 yen tax included). It reveals the full truth behind the “God Valley Incident” that had been hidden in the shadows of history, so if you haven’t checked it out yet, definitely give it a read!

Carrot’s Cover Art is Unreasonably Cute

First, let me talk about the cover art!

Carrot is too cute!!!

She’s wearing a crown, with the word “Queen” boldly displayed on her fluffy, soft sleeves. In her hands, she holds a basket overflowing with carrots. Just the visual alone is foul play. Carrot, who loves carrots, holding a basket full of carrots – she looks so happy!

My excitement was already through the roof from the cover art alone, even before I started the chapter. “This week’s Jump is amazing!” was my immediate thought (lol).

Carrot first appeared in the Whole Cake Island arc, and recently she’s been active as the Queen of the Mokomo Dukedom. It’s always such a joy when she shows up on cover art like this. Thank you, Oda-sensei!

The Long-Awaited Clash! Loki and Im Face Off

The main story picks up right where Chapter 1180 left off, with Loki and Im facing each other.

I absolutely loved Loki’s line from last chapter: “Remember this, you octopus!!” The strong impression it left made me look forward to this continuation even more.

Loki shows zero signs of submitting to Im’s bottomless terror or overwhelming power. He’s going full-throttle rage mode, and that attitude is just irresistible. Most characters would be paralyzed with fear facing an opponent like this, but Loki picks a fight head-on. So cool!

“Okay, this is really starting now,” I thought, bracing myself as I read.

The Giant Loki – Seriously, He’s Huge

Im’s earthly form looks far smaller compared to Loki, which really emphasizes just how massive Loki is, even among giants.

Seriously, Loki is absurdly huge!

When you read One Piece from Luffy’s perspective, human-sized characters become the default. But the world is full of giants, sea kings, and massive creatures like Zunesha, so the sense of scale gets completely warped (lol).

Zunesha is on a whole different level – basically the size of an island. The scale of One Piece is truly extraordinary.

Loki’s Strike: “Iron Thunder Hammer (Ragnayzuchi)”

Loki unleashes an all-out, Haki-infused strike called “Iron Thunder Hammer (Ragnayzuchi)” against Im.

Just the name sounds powerful! The Norse mythology motif works so well here, fitting perfectly with Elbaf’s theme.

However, Im blocks the attack using that mysterious “Magic Aura (Omen)” – this strange, shadowy demon-like ability. I really don’t fully understand it yet!

According to Im, “Omen is the ‘military force’ of the Moon (Mu).”

Does this mean the combined power of all those subjugated by Omen becomes Im’s own strength? Can Im distribute or concentrate his own power through it?

It reminds me of Yhwach’s “The Almighty” from Bleach – that kind of overpowered, anything-goes ability. Since Im also mentions it as the “power of all things,” it might affect not just living beings but objects as well.

Using this power, Im grows enormous, surprising Loki. Their powers seem evenly matched for now, but Im’s abilities still have no visible limit. Bottomless strength is genuinely terrifying!

Im’s New Technique: “Sword of Divine Punishment (Nemesis)”

And then, Im’s new technique “Sword of Divine Punishment (Nemesis)” finally appears!

Im swings his weapon down from above Loki, transforming its tip into a sword-like form that pierces Loki’s body.

“Nemesis” is actually the name of the Greek goddess of divine retribution and revenge. The fact that a sword with a Greek mythology name appears within Elbaf’s Norse mythology motif is incredibly meaningful.

The choice to name his weapon after “the goddess who punishes human arrogance” really reflects Im’s philosophy that “I am the rule of the world.” Genuinely scary!

Im’s Philosophy of “Domination”

Im declares that “Corruption,” “Contract,” and “Magic Aura (Power)” form a trinity called “Domination.”

It seems Im developed some kind of twisted worldview during childhood. The past is gradually being revealed, and I have a feeling that understanding why Im became this way will be crucial to future developments.

Im calls this “the power of God,” but Loki counters with “That’s not God’s rule, it’s a demon’s contract.”

Im responds with “What’s the difference between a god and a demon?” and even declares that “Domination is the true happiness of the world.”

The philosophy is brutal! But this kind of absolute-ruler perspective is exactly what makes a final boss compelling – it’s a thrilling development.

…Personally, if I had to be dominated by anyone, I’d rather be dominated by Makima-san and have her feed me udon (lol). Nayuta from Chainsaw Man is so cute too! Sorry, I went off on a tangent.

Shock! “Right, Joy Boy!!!!”

Then, Im suddenly cries out:

“Right, Joy Boy!!!!”

…wait, that’s emotionally unstable out of nowhere!

Honestly, at this point, it’s almost starting to look kind of cute (lol). He must have had some kind of philosophical disagreement with Joy Boy in the past, and he’s been carrying that grudge ever since.

Personally, I can’t shake the feeling that this is just jealousy. Maybe they were close friends, and the rift formed because of differences in their views, and Im has been dragging that wound for centuries.

What happened during the Void Century 800 years ago? The relationship between Im and Joy Boy has suddenly become critically important. We can’t miss what comes next!

Loki’s Counter-Attack! Nidhogg Transformation

While Im is distracted by his memories, Loki seizes the opening and counter-attacks.

“Lost in thought?”
“You’re underestimating me too much!”

These lines are so cool! Loki’s strike sends Im flying, and then Loki transforms into Nidhogg.

The form of Nidhogg, the venomous serpent (or dragon) from Norse mythology, is truly breathtaking. Even Im seems shaken by it.

As Im is slammed into the trunk of the great tree, Loki unleashes “Thunder Realm (Thorheim).”
It seems Im receives the attack with his Omen.

The Final Defiant Smile

However, Im smiles defiantly and mutters “You’ve come back…” Even after taking Thorheim head-on, Im still has a composed expression – almost as if he just remembered something significant. And that’s where the chapter ends!

What a cliffhanger!

“Come back” – who is he referring to? Joy Boy? Or Nika? Could this be foreshadowing yet another revival?

It’s brutal to leave us hanging like this when the next chapter is delayed due to the combined issue (lol). I’m not going to be able to sleep waiting for the continuation!
